Short Term Rentals Update

The following was taken from vbgov.com.

The Virginia Beach City Council has been studying possible regulations for short-term home rentals, like those romoted on Airbnb and other sites, out of concern for how rentals affect quiet residential neighborhoods – especially with increased traffic, parking and noise. The council also wants to ensure the safety of visitors who rent homes, apartments or rooms.

To assist with this work, the Council appointed an ad hoc committee to make recommendations.  See the Committee Recommendations

The Council also adopted an ordinance requiring owners who rent their homes to register with the Commissioner of the Revenue. Such rentals are required to pay city and state taxes, the same as hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts.

Frosty in the Park - Cancelled

We are very sad to announce that we will be cancelling this year's “Frosty in the park” Toys for Tots Drive.  The weather is supposed to be really bad (heavy rain all day\night).  Unfortunately, there is no rain date.

Please take your toys to your schools (if they are having a donation station) and mention our neighborhood.  Any toys that have been dropped off already will be delivered to the main station in Kempsville.

Thank you to all of you who have volunteered already.  This is one of our favorite events; we will try again next year.

We are truly blessed to live in a place where we love our friends we call neighbors.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Christmas on the Canals

Several of our neighbors would like your help starting a new tradition in Lago Mar.

  • For residents living along the canals in Lago Mar, consider adding some decoration that can be seen from the canal -- nothing too elaborate to add stress to your life, just a little twinkle & shine
  • Boaters:  decorate your craft and cruise the canals to see decorations on the shore while showing off your floating holiday spirit.

Perhaps, if there is enough interest, someday we'll pick a specific date or two for a holiday celebration along the waterways of Lago Mar.

Please feel free to leave a comment if your yard, or boat, is one to be seen in 2017.
